It’s about the people who live

September is one of my favorite months.  It starts off on a good note with the Labor Day holiday and ends with the official beginning of fall. Ever since I started working at COUNTRY, September has a new meaning to me because September is also Life Insurance Awareness Month.

Life Insurance Awareness Month was started by the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE) to educate people about the need for life insurance.

Each year the LIFE Foundation picks a spokesperson to help spread the message.  As a huge Law & Order fan, I was excited to see that this year’s spokesperson is Chris Noth who also has hit the big and small screens in Sex and the City.  Mr. Noth talks about how having life insurance affected his family when his father died in a car accident.  With the money from the life insurance policy, his mother was able to put him and his two brothers through college.

Part of Life Insurance Awareness Month is getting the word out about the need for life insurance.  According to information from the Life Insurance and Market Research Association, almost half of American households think they don’t have enough life insurance and about one in five households don’t have any life insurance.

A few years back, I remember seeing a flier hanging on a wall near where I worked that really stuck out to me.  It said, “Life insurance isn’t for the people who die.  It’s for the people who live.”  You can check out stories of how COUNTRY has helped those who live by checking out our Real People Stories

Do you have a story about how Life Insurance has helped change your life for the better?  Tell me about it by leaving a comment.
