What does Veterans Day have to do with financial security, let alone COUNTRY?
Everything!
COUNTRY has many people from all walks of life and all backgrounds that come together for one cause. From Actuary to Claims to Underwriting to Agency to COUNTRY Trust Bank, we’re there to make sure we can protect the people and possessions we care about.
The soldier does the exact same thing except on a much grander scale. We come from all walks of life and all backgrounds to protect what we value. The only difference is the premiums paid by the veteran can be pretty steep.
I served in Baghdad in 2007 and 2008. The people I served with became almost like family. You eat, work and play with them all day, every day. They are truly heroes for what they do there.
As I write this post, I see the tragedy at Ft. Hood in the news. My prayers are with the loved ones of these fallen Americans. I actually served with a half-dozen people from Ft. Hood in Iraq.
There is a quote by G. K. Chesterton I’ve always liked. Please keep it mind as you observe Veterans Day.
“The true soldier does not fight because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”

Thank you, Gary, for your service to our country. Without you and many others, the United States of American wouldn’t be the great nation it is today.
What a great quote to keep in mind all the time about why our troops are serving us overseas, thank you for your years of service.
Thanks for your service Master Sergeant Clark!
And thanks to all those who serve and served who made it possible for all our other defenders to do their job. I worked in a Pentagon office where we sent and received messages from all over the world during the Vietnam “conflict”.
Yes, I too would like to thank you for your service to this country as a child from a military family. That quote is so true!
