It’s hard to avoid it this time of year. Everywhere you go, the year-end lists are everywhere. Top 10 best songs of the year. Top five movies of 2009. Top performing stocks. Biggest news stories. Top shocking TV moments. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a list of the best lists. Ha!
I started thinking of writing my own list. So ladies and gentlemen, here are my top five reasons why it was great to work at COUNTRY.
5. Two words: Work/Life Balance. Or is that three words. Does it count when you use a slash? Anyway, the company truly cares that its employees have a life outside of work. One of my last employers thought a work/life balance meant dialing into meetings while you were on vacation.
4. We have a lot of cool things here. Cafeteria. On-site banking. There’s even a masseuse that comes in once or twice a week in case I sleep on my neck wrong.
3. The company does good things for its customers, employees and communities. We really try hard.
2. When something goes wrong, as it invariably does, there is no blame game played here, instead it’s “how can I help?” People’s first instinct is to come to a coworker’s aid, not to point fingers or run the other way.
1. People –This is what it really comes down to. The people at COUNTRY are the some of the smartest, most creative I have ever worked with. They are bright, thoughtful and willing to work together.
Hope you have your best year yet in 2010! At least one good enough to be in your top five.

As someone who has been at COUNTRY for over a year now, I can honestly say that every word you say is true. I’ve been in the work force for several years, in 4 different US states and COUNTRY has the culture figured out. I’d like to be here until I retire. Wow, did I just say that? I never thought I’d hear those words, but I’m thrilled to say them!
