Insurance discount. An early wedding present.

It’s January and the wedding planning season is in full swing.  There are bridal shows going on all over the place.  “Bride-zillas” are rushing around trying to land the right photographer or florist.  And Mother in-laws are disapproving at every turn.

People say the first year of marriage is the most difficult.  This is probably true for many reasons, but one reason might be all the important decisions a couple has to make.  One of these major decisions is – where should we buy our insurance?  Unless you are lucky enough to both be insured with the same company, you will have to answer that question.  Too bad Julia Roberts didn’t address this subject in “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

Making this decision may not be as easy as you might think.  There are reasons (or at least there should be) why each of you chose your respective companies.  But here’s some quick advice – Check out whether your insurance provider gives any discounts for engaged couples.  If you do, consider it an early wedding present!

Does anyone have a funny story about their wedding planning?  Drop me a post so we can laugh about it!
