Your comments are changing kids’ lives

The generosity of our community never ceases to amaze us. Thanks to your 120 comments on a recent blog post about COUNTRY Financial celebrating 25 years in Salem, Ore., the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties received a generous donation of $600 from COUNTRY.

We are so grateful to the readers, friends of COUNTRY and the Boys & Girls Club for your comments. The donation will help us provide positive after-school programs for youth who attend our seven Clubs in Salem, Keizer and Woodburn.

Each child who enters one of our Clubs is impacted by the power of positive youth development programming. Our youth development approach goes beyond just prevention and intervention. We focus time and effort on building a child’s key competencies and skills necessary for them to determine their own destiny.

More than 10,000 youth enjoy a variety of activities and programs through the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion & Polk Counties.

With signature programs such as our Literacy Initiative, T3: Training Teens for Tomorrow and the Health and Dental Services Center, the Boys & Girls Club is providing a platform for youth to realize their full potential.  Through the support of organizations like COUNTRY, we’re building assets in our youth that will strengthen their ability to take the challenges of life head on.

Congratulations COUNTRY Financial for 25 years in our community and for helping make our community better for years to come!

From all of your friends at the Boys & Girls Club

    Debbie,

Thanks for the kind words. We are glad to have been of assistance to B&G Club over the years!

  • Jeff says:

I would encourage all boys and girls to try as many activities as possible. You never know where you’ll find something you’ll love unless you try.

Keep up the great work Boys & Girls Club!

  • Linda Hansen says:

My husband and I have worked with kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs wherever we have lived. We saw them succeed – sometimes for the first time in their lives – and have fun and make friends. All the things you need to do for your own mental and physical health and happiness.

Kids – do your best now and always and the best will happen to you. You reap what you sow (you get what you give). Give your best and help someone else to give their best. You’ll both be happier and so will everyone around you! If it’s hard, try harder. If it takes a long time, work harder to make it a good long time. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t reach your dreams – because you can – if you want to and you work for it hard enough.

  • I grew up in the Boys and Girls Club system. My life would have been different if not for the positive impact the Club had on me.

The kids are lucky to have your involvement. Keep up the good work!

Encouraging words: Your past has nothing to do with your future. Set your goals high and go after them. The only person who can stop you – is you!

  • I grew up going to the Boy’s & Girls club in my community. Now, I’m on the Advisory Council for the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in my home town. I see so many positive things happening everyday with our kids in the club. I’d like to think we are changing lives for the better by providing positive experiences that otherwise would not be available to these kids. It’s no suprise that Country supports such great organizations as these.
